Forrest Kuiper
Fire Chief, University Fire Department

Forrest Kuiper has served as Fire Chief of the University Fire Department in Fairbanks Alaska since 2021. He has been working in the fire service since 1997 when he started working at UAF as a student firefighter. In the spring of 2003, Chief Kuiper began his full-time career position as a Captain. After 14 rewarding years serving as Captain, he continued to serve 4 additional years as Battalion Chief.
Chief Kuiper has served on the Alaska Fire Chiefs Association Executive Board for 6 years, and most recently the President.
Chief Kuiper earned a master’s degree in Public Administration, baccalaureate degree in Emergency Management, an associate degree in Fire Science; associate degree in Hazardous Materials; all from the University of Alaska. He is a graduate of the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program.
In his spare time, he enjoys all the outdoor opportunities Alaska offers with his wife Buffy, and son Glacier.
