Raised in Southern California, Los Angeles, first moved to Utah in 1974 while attending Southern Utah. Moved back to Los Angeles where I taught school and coached, also where I took my first “Firefighter exam” after passing the initial two parts of the exam was notified that L.A. County was not able to hire that year because of “Proposition 13.” I moved to Salt Lake City in 1981, taught school and coached for three years before getting hired by Murray City Fire Department. I moved up the ranks from Firefighter, Captain, Battalion Chief, and Deputy Chief and have been in the Chiefs position for ten years. Most recently I served as president of the Utah State Chiefs Association and now am proud to serve as the Western representative from the state of Utah.
Associates degree in Fire Science from Utah Valley State College, Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from Southern Utah University, Certified Public Manager from the State of Utah and Executive fire Officer Designation from the National Fire Academy. Have been the chairman of the Greater Salt Lake Fire Officers Association, the Salt Lake Valley Fire Alliance and President of the Utah State Fire Chiefs Association, currently the chair of the Joint Council of Fire Service Organizations
