Fire Chief Ray Gayk began his fire career as volunteer firefighter for the Riverside County Fire Department in 1990. He completed Paramedic School and began working as a Paramedic for Goodhew Ambulance. He began his professional fire career in 1994 and worked as a Firefighter Paramedic for Riverside County Fire Department, Redlands Fire Department and Ontario Fire Department. During his career in the Fire service, he served as a Firefighter/Paramedic, FEMA USAR Task Force Member, Training Captain, Truck Company Captain, Background Investigator, SWAT Paramedic, Battalion Chief, Deputy Chief of Operations and Fire Chief.
Chief Gayk holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Studies from California State University, Long Beach and is a Certified Company, Chief and Executive Chief Officer through the California State Fire Marshal’s Office. He was an editor for Fire/Rescue Magazine, writing several articles including a monthly contributor to a column called, “Company Officer Development”. He served in several roles for the California Fire Chiefs Association including, Operations Section VP, Legislative Task Force, Area Director, President-Elect and President.
