Quarterly Newsletter: 2020 | Q2

WFCA has been busy adapting to changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic and as many of you know, 2020 events have either been cancelled or postponed.  Due to the recent cancellation of Fire-Rescue International, the WFCA Annual Membership Meeting will be held on August 5, 2020 at 10:00 am PDT via Zoom.  At this meeting we will hold our elections for President, Vice President and International Director.  An agenda and Zoom link will be sent to all WFCA members prior to the meeting.  Remember, you must be an IAFC/WFCA member to be eligible to vote.

WFCA is finding alternative methods to provide beneficial information to our members.  Together with FirstNet Built with AT&T and Intterra, we presented a webinar: Guidance in an Uncertain Economy.  Valuable insight was provided for you as chief officers and if you missed the webinar you can view it on our homepage.  We will continue to look for opportunities to reach our members virtually until such time we can be together in person once again.

FireRescue GPO has a new FirstNet-Built with AT&T contract through its Sourcewell partnership.  To use this new contract, which supports fire chiefs associations, complete this form or contact your existing FirstNet representative.

FirstNet provides modern equipment and services that the fire service utilizes every day - smartphones, tablets, Wi-Fi devices and now the first mission-critical standard-based push-to-talk solution to launch in the U.S.

WFCA, RapidSOS, Responder Corp, and Orleans Parish Communication District were awarded the $1 million Accelerate R2 Network Challenge grant from the Economic Development Administration (EDA), the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), and the First Responder Network (FirstNet) Authority.

Together, along with the State of New Hampshire serving as a key strategic partner and collaborator, we will form a national, free-to-use, and self-sustaining platform that brings stakeholders together for a common goal: to support innovators and agencies in empowering first responders with the tools and technologies they need to stay safe and protect our communities. Delivering news you can use. The Daily Dispatch continues to seek out stories highlighting innovation in the fire service, especially around COVID-19. During the last quarter, the DD ran numerous articles nationally and at the state level that highlighted ingenuity to help combat the virus – everything from protective shields and PPE to disinfecting solutions and procedures to keep equipment clean and sanitized. Data shows that the articles providing real-world solutions to issues arising from COVID-19 have been very popular with Daily Dispatch readers.
