Jonathan Kanzigg

Fire Chief Jonathan Kanzigg brings 34 years of dedicated service to the fire industry, with the last 16 spent leading the Midway Fire District in Gulf Breeze, Florida. As Fire Chief, he has demonstrated exceptional leadership and unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of the community.

Chief Kanzigg has been deeply involved in fire service leadership at both the state and regional levels. He served as the Florida Director of the Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs (SEAFC) from 2015 to 2023, where he played a key role in advancing the association’s mission. In 2023, he was elected President of the Southeastern Association of Fire Chiefs.

Additionally, Chief Kanzigg served as the Florida Association of Fire Chiefs Regional Director for six years, contributing significantly to the strategic development of fire service operations and policies across the state. He also has valuable experience with multiple deployments for major disasters, including Hurricane Katrina, Michael, Matthew, Irma, and Dennis.
