The City of Bend Fire Department is now accepting applications for full-time Firefighter/Paramedics to join the Operations Division of Bend Fire & Rescue (BF&R). These are regular, full-time positions represented by the Bend Firefighters Association (BFA), Local 227. BF&R is hiring four Firefighter/Paramedics and will also establish an eligibility list for future vacancies. The eligibility list may be closed or canceled at any time.
Bend Fire & Rescue is the largest fire department in Central Oregon. The Department protects approximately 164 square miles in the fire service area and more than 1,450 in the ambulance service area. In 2025, the total calls for service were 14,484. BF&R has 106-line personnel who provide coverage from 6 fire stations. The department works on a four-platoon system, 48 hours on shift and 144 off with one debit day per FLSA cycle.
BF&R is seeking highly motivated, community-oriented Firefighter/Paramedics who are committed to protecting life, property, and the environment. This position delivers advanced life support (ALS) emergency medical care, fire suppression, rescue operations, and all-hazard response within the City of Bend and surrounding districts. Firefighter/Paramedics serve as vital members of a cohesive team dedicated to professionalism, compassion, and service excellence.
