City of Anacortes Fire Department – Fire Chief
The City of Anacortes Fire Department is seeking a fire service professional to join our team as the Fire Chief. The Anacortes Fire Department (AFD) is an “All Hazards” organization. In addition to structural fire suppression, AFD provides wildland fire suppression, ALS and BLS transport services, high/low angle rope rescue, water rescue, and confined space rescue.

AFD operates out of three stations with a career staff consisting of:

1 Community Paramedic

1 Administrative Assistant
Minimum Qualifications
-
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Fire Science, public administration, or a closely related field; and eight years of increasingly responsible fire and EMS services including suppression, prevention, training, emergency management, and advanced life support. Completion of a National Fire Academy Executive Officer program is highly desirable.

Licenses and other requirements: Must possess a valid Washington State driver’s license. Residency must fall within the response boundary established by the Anacortes Fire Department’s Duty Chief Policy.
Salary
2026 Salary Range: $148,354.69 – $187,716.01 Annually & pay depends on qualifications.
