The Wenatchee Valley Fire Department (WVFD) is currently accepting applications to establish an additional hiring list for 3-9 anticipated vacancies. This recruitment is open to qualified candidates, including lateral firefighters who are not currently on the department’s existing Firefighter/EMT hiring list.
WVFD provides emergency response services to structure fires, wildland fires, medical emergencies, hazardous material incidents, and technical rescues to approximately 81,000 citizens of our 211 square-mile service area. Department operations are conducted from eight 24-hour staffed stations, as well as two volunteer fire stations, a staffed maintenance facility, and a helicopter hangar.
Applications will be evaluated on background, experience, training, and skills presented in the application packet. Top scoring applicants will be invited to continue in the selection process. Background checks (driving, criminal, civil, and reference checks) as well as medical exams and drug screens will be conducted at the time of a conditional offer of employment. The department may utilize both the newly established hiring list and the existing lateral hiring list to fill vacancies. Veterans’ preference awarded consistent with RCW 41.04.010.
