About The WFCA Fire Map
The Western Fire Chiefs Association (WFCA) Fire Map is a near real-time situational awareness platform for wildland fire across the western United States and Alaska, built for fire chiefs, dispatchers, the press, and the public.

What you can see, right now:
- Active incidents and perimeters — official IRWIN incident records and federal FEDS perimeters, with growth tracking and containment status.
- Live 911 dispatch calls for fires, medical, and other emergencies via PulsePoint.
- Multi-satellite heat detection combining polar-orbiting (VIIRS, MODIS, Landsat thermal) and geostationary (GOES ABI, 5-minute refresh) sensors, plus AI-confirmed detections that fuse multiple inputs for higher resolution.
- Smoke and lightning observations and short-range forecasts.
- Early perimeter and 3-hour spread forecasts for California fires via FIRIS.
- Live firefighting aircraft — tankers, helicopters, and reconnaissance, filtered to a maintained allowlist of wildfire-tasked tail numbers.
- Live fire cameras from ALERTCalifornia, ALERTWest, and partner networks.
- Fire weather context — Red Flag warnings, Storm Prediction Center fire-weather outlooks, wind, and humidity.
- Satellite imagery including GOES GeoColor true-color and VIIRS Fire Bands composites for visual confirmation of active fire and smoke.
Every layer is toggleable, color-coded by recency and confidence, and links to incident detail panels with growth history, dispatch info, and live conditions. Deep links work for any state, any fire, and any viewport — bookmark or share a URL and the map opens to the same view.
